Hello Kyle! :D Welcome to the CG community! I am Andriana and I am a graduate of this creative boosting, mind opening course.
I will be your mentor for this year and hopefully give you some advice on your work based on my own experience in CGAA for the past 3 years. I am very excited to be your mentor and I am hoping you are excited to start too. :)
Just a few words about the course. Prepare yourself for hard but very rewarding work. I came into the course knowing nothing about software, creative storytelling or reviewing films. All I could do was doodle a few characters. Now I am overall very confident with Maya and able to produce my own short animations from scratch. So no worries, you will learn everything you need to know as long as you are willing and excited to.
Also, make sure you make friends! Lots of CG friends. It's important to interact with people and receive or give feedback. Try and spend as much time in the campus as possible and don't be afraid to ask questions, even if you think they are silly. I can tell you now I used to bombard 3rd years with the tiniest questions. So go out with people and have a drink , or spend all nighters together (there will be a lot of them). You will receive the support you need as long as you ask for it and obviously give a helping hand yourself. So make friends, because you never know, they might be your future employers :)
Anyhow, any worries or help you need, just ask :) I will be happy to help you with your technical or creative headaches. Also, I might be visiting the campus very soon so I can hopefully meet you in person. If you feel like contacting me alternatively, we can skype or facebook (maybe make a facebook group between me, you and Rosalyn?) , or just keep on blogging, whatever suits you.
